Bowman Bay Hike Report

It turned out to be a beautiful day at Bowman Bay, and a perfect day for a hike, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s. The first of two hikes left the Bowman Bay parking to Rosario Head along a rugged path with coastal views and Pacific madrone trees. Along the way, the CAI hiking group saw an overlook of tide pools and a display of what could be found there presented by a beach naturalist volunteer before entering the forested trail that led to Rosario Head. At Rosario Head, the group saw expansive Puget Sound views with small islands, with the Olympic Mountains in the distance, before heading back to the Bowman Bay boat launch parking area.

Next to the Bowman Bay boat launch area was a shaded area with a picnic table, in which the CAI hiking group had lunch with good conversations, and home-baked cookies provided for all by Bev Riter.

After lunch, the CAI hiking group headed south from the picnic area towards Lighthouse Point. With a low tide of -2.08 feet, it was a pleasant hike across the sandy beach with mist along the water line while Dianne took her paddleboard out onto Bowman Bay. The group continued to Lighthouse Point with a scenic view of the Deception Pass bridge, and more water and mountain views could be seen from the cliffs at Lighthouse Point. The group then hiked back to the Bowman Bay boat launch parking area, ending a wonderful CAI hike for the day.
