Discovery Park Extended Trail
What a perfect sunny, crisp, winter day for a hike at Discovery Park in Seattle! Discovery Park is Seattle's largest public park and is located on Magnolia Bluff, overlooking the Puget Sound. We were a small but mighty group ... Ida, Gerlinde, Vincenzo & Kendra.
Now if you want to add a little excitement before the hike begins, be sure to invite Ida & me! As we were busily getting our hiking boots on and about to leave the parking lot, Ida discovered she had locked her backpack with her keys in the car. AAA to the rescue!
As Ida was on the phone with AAA, I put my backpack (unknowingly with my keys in it) back in my trunk as I had planned to wait with Ida. How does that happen on a newer car you ask? Well, if the keys are buried deep in a backpack, the car does not sense they are there and will not open. It was a happy ending as AAA was there in about 10 minutes and all of us were soon on the Trail!
Forests, beaches, prairies, and bluffs dominate the landscape of the park. Views of the Puget Sound, the Cascade & Olympic Mountain Ranges were spectacular.
As we were nearing the West Point Lighthouse to have our lunch by the beach, we noticed a bald eagle perched high on a tower,
