Unfortunately, we have decided to cancel these hikes due to the extreme heat in the Portland area. We may reschedule them for another time, possibly in September 2025.
After all this cold weather, I bet you can't wait for summer! Another reason to look forward to summer is that we are proposing a visit to the Portland area, Monday July 8th to Thursday the 11th.
Our home in Tigard would be the "home base". The idea is to have a gathering similar to the visit to Bend last year, where Linda and Kevin hosted. As hosts, they set a high bar for us to match, but we will try.
Just like last year, some people will stay at our house and others in hotels. There are no campgrounds close unless you consider our back yard.
There are many different hikes we can do during the days with lots of options:
Fanno Creek Trail that we can walk to right from our house. It is an easy paved trail that we could do on the day everyone arrives.
We are 20 minutes away from downtown Portland where we could hike around the waterfront, or my favorite local hike, the Lower Macleay Creek trail to Pittock Mansion.
We are 1 hour from hikes, Eagle Creek trail, in the Columbia Gorge and Multnomah Falls.
We are 1.5 hours’ drive from the ocean and hikes like Saddle Mountain.
We are 1.5 hours from Mount Hood and Timberline Lodge.
Hoping to see some familiar faces and looking forward to making new friends.
