CAI-PNW Hike – Vashon Island - Saturday, November 1, 2025

Let’s be off to see Oscar, the Bird King! (This is the regular Saturday CAI hike postponed by rain from October 25.)

To see this troll by Thomas Dambo we’ll carpool onto the 10 AM Ferry from Fauntleroy and drive the 12 miles to Pt. Robinson Park.

We will walk the easy 1 mile loop trail, spending some time with Oscar and then eating our sack lunches at the beach with its light house. After a stroll on the beach and tide pool explorations, we will go back to the cars and drive to Dockton Park and hike through one of the largest stands of Madronas in Washington State. This 1.5 mile down and back trail is easy-moderate to the Maury Island beach overlook.

Some of us may choose to hike on to the beach and back which would involve 350 additional ft. elevation gain.

We will try to return to Fauntleroy to board the 3:50 PM ferry.

Please sign-up by October 30 for more details and to work out carpool(s) for the ferry. The long range forecast is for no rain after 10:30 AM on Vashon, but be prepared!
