CAI Urban Hike

Gerlinde and I met at Kerry Park on Queen Anne hill (2nd W. and W. Highland Dr.). We walked down on the 3rd W. stairs and continued down on 3rd W. onto the overpass and to the newly redone park. We walked north along the water beyond the Expedia parking area (you can park there for free) and then turned back and retraced our steps. We could have gone further South to see the SAM sculpture park, but decided not to. We stopped for lunch at the Haggen restaurant and ate our lunches and went back up toward Queen Anne hill. We stopped at Neilsens Bakery on 2nd W. just south of Mercer St. and got a baked potato, which is a pastry with creme filling and topped with almond paste and cocoa. Then continued up 2nd West to Kerry Park. It is about 4 miles round trip with about 400 ft elevation gain and loss. If you go further south, it will be more miles to the sculpture park and the downtown waterfront. This is my favorite in-city hike as it has beautiful views and is pleasant walking along the waterfront and the Q. A. neighborhood.
