Shangri La Trail Hike

CAI hikers Cam, Gerlinde and Kendra joined me to walk the Shangri La trail on Cougar Mountain. We were lucky with the weather, which was mild with some sun breaks. We got a partial view of the Issaquah area including Squawk and Tiger Mountains. Many wildflowers and a few black tailed deer were part of the scenic fern-filled forest. We took a short side path to see a glacial erratic dubbed fantastic erratic. The Shangri La trail loops back with Surprise Creek and after walking a total of five miles, we arrived back at the trailhead. There’s a picnic area in the area where we enjoyed our lunch.
