Annette Lake
Seven CAI-PNW hikers began the hike around 9:30 AM on a clear, sunny crisp Fall morning. Due to the possibility of rain on Wednesday, the hike was changed to Sunday.
The trailhead parking lot was almost full when we arrived at 9:15 AM.
The Lake Annette hike is a moderate 7.5-mile roundtrip hike with 1800 ft. elevation gain. Most of the elevation occurs in the first 2.5 miles, and then the trail levels off a bit before gradually descending to the lake. The trail is under a second-growth forest with occasional views of Humpback Mountain. We didn't encounter too many people on the trail up to the lake and on our way back down. The trail is in great shape.
Beautiful views of Abiel Peak, Humpback Mountain, and Silver Peak when we arrived at the lake. We enjoyed half an hour there for lunch. We made it back down to the car at 2:45 pm after spending a nice Fall day in the mountains.
